The main topic of Legal Medicine in Kaiserslautern is paternity testing.

Most advanced technology of DNA profiling is applied (so-called genetic fingerprinting). Assisted by sophisticated PC programs all putative familial relationships can be classified.

Evidentially, origin and identitiy of all samples must be confirmed. The QM of the laboratory is permanently monitored by internal and external quality control.

The QM and evidence in Court is hold according to the Richtlinien for the paternity testing (Dtsch. Ärztebl. Jg. 99, Heft 10, B 541-B543).
